Pre-Installation

Planning and testing prior to cutover is important for a smooth transition from Traditional Telephony to Next Advantage Buddy.

Here are some items that your Customer Relationship Manager will discuss with you during the Installation Process.

Cabling:

Cat5 or better cabling is required from all locations where an IP Phone is to be installed. If you are moving from a traditional phone system you may not have Cat5e or better cabling as traditional handsets use less pairs.
Majority of new offices or if handsets are to be installed at locations where you have an existing Computer this is less of an issue.

– Will your deployment utilize a dedicated cable for the IP Phones?
– Share Ethernet with PC via the use of a PC Port on the back of your new IP Phone?

If you are unsure of the state of your cabling (including labelling of port numbers) we recommend engaging a contractor to perform an on-site audit of your cabling. We can recommend someone if you don’t have a licenced cabler.

Switch:

Phones require a POE switch to power them unless you are utilizing a power pack on each handset which is not recommended for installations of more than 4 handsets.

A dedicated POE Switch can be installed. Next Telecom will need to know if you are sharing Data and Voice switches as this will require LAN Integration with your IT Department / Contractor.

Router:

Next Telecom provides a Managed WAN service and this includes an on site router.
